Park and Garden
When wandering through the park you will be able to have a rest on a bench or a resting bed ; you will admire our remarkable trees and meet our cats and horses. The birds will sing for you and if you like you can watch the kestrels who lodge in the attic of the main building.
We have many tree species : Lebanon and Atlas cedars, Spanish fir trees, Gleditsia triacanthos inermis “Sunburst”, common plane trees, Orientalis plane trees, Séphora, Goa cypress, and obviously oak trees, amidst lilac, lime trees and box trees.
We have also a formal garden, with its symmetrical structure, in which you will find the rose garden. Some of the roses have given their names to the rooms. The rose garden is Lydie’s well-beloved sanctuary…
The vegetable garden
The vegetable garden is a necessity for our catering ; it is completely organic, cultivated according to the rules of permaculture ; it enables us to have fresh vegetables all year round.
To boost biodiversity and soil renewal, but also to offer diversity in our dishes, we plant many different varieties : more than 20 different ancient tomatoes : tomato pineapple, tomato pink from Berne, tomato Oxheart, Black Krimean…
A floral fallow field provides us with pastoral bouquets to decorate our guest house. An organic orchard composed of 50 pear and apple trees, most of them ancient, gives us fruit to make stewed fruit and jams for our breakfasts.
Take a walk along these cultivated areas ! You will discover the names of the plants which are all labelled and you might ask the gardener his secrets when he delivers a basketful of fresh vegetables to the kitchen.
